San Gabriel´s Grotto and Ixtlahuacan de Los Reyes Town
During the tour we will visit the little village named San Gabriel, where is located the grotto that has the same name of the village, once we walk into the grotto we will see this great wonder of nature composed of stalactites that have been formed millimeter by millimeter during hundreds of years. Then we will head for the little town of Ixtlahuacan, where we will learn about the process to make acapan hammocks, which are very typical of this place. We will also visit a history museum, where several pieces of pottery that were found inside of the shaft tombs nearby to that region are on display, besides the ceramic, we are going to see the costumes representing the four characters of the chayacates dance that is performed in this picturesque town of Ixtlahuacan, on 5th and 6th of January , that dance has a great significance, and is a blend of ancient beliefs of pre-Hispanic tribes and the Spanish influence. That dance won the 2nd place in the selection of the seven cultural treasures of Colima. Bird watching along our trip.
After our visit to Ixtlahuacan we will drive back toward Colima city. ⋆ Family friendly.
